It all started selling ice cream in various restaurants. After +70 years we are still passionate about serving our ice cream in restaurants.
Our beginnings
In 1948 Josep M. Casañé Barberá founds an ice-cream shop-horxateria. Seeing that he has great success and that some hostelers ask him for a product, he sets up a small workshop and starts distributing some ice creams around the city.
We invented the first ice cream cake in Spain
The founder Josep M. Casañé and his nephew, Jaume Casañé and Bellet, in a moment of pure creativity think ... Why do not we make an iced cake? And so, they invented a unique product. The first ice cream cake in Spain.
Our star is born!
The two entrepreneurs return to surprise creating a different and exclusive product that still remains the company's logo: the `` Tropical Orange``. They baptize it with this name because of its shape and color although it does not even taste orange or any tropical taste. It is ice cream with butter (made by hand), with two round and orange carapace shells.

The company grows: The first workshop and own truck
A few years later he convinced the current owner Jaume Casañé i Bellet (his nephew) because he was associated with him in the activity of making ice creams. By 1960, they formed J. Casañé S.A. and they acquire a new ship and are located on the outskirts of the city installing freezing chambers. They also acquire the first truck for distribution.
First fairs with tastings
The business was growing along with the public's interest in ice cream. The fairs, like this one from the photo taken in the early 70's in Tremp, served to bring our passion to the people for delicious ice creams.
Construction of the current factory
The growth of the company made it necessary to move to a new factory in 2000. This modern ship has allowed to produce with new machinery, with the possibility of developing new products and without leaving the artisanal production. This change makes it possible to produce the great variety of current references and be prepared for future challenges with a much larger volume. All this, without forgetting the ultimate goal is the creation of a highly artisan and high quality product as we all know who know us.
